Five Ways
You Can Advocate for Comprehensive Immigration Reform

As the protests of spring 2006 demonstrated, people outside of Washington D.C. can have a dramatic impact about how federal immigration policy is debated and formed.

Here are five steps you can take to advocate for truly comprehensive immigration reform:

  1. Continue to educate yourself.  The issue is complex and encompasses many components.  You can learn more on our website, and here:

    American Immigration Lawyer’s Association

    Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform

    Detention Watch Network

    Rights Working Group

  2. Participate in local activities around immigration reform. Check Hate Free Zone’s calendar for updated opportunities to learn and act for true reform.

  3. Encourage five friends to join us in the push for real reform. Know people who may be interested in joining the fight for true comprehensive immigration reform? Tell them why you care about immigration reform, forward this page to them, and sign them up for Hate Free Zone’s e-newsletter.

  4. Contact Congress. Anti-immigrant calls to Congress still far outnumber pro-immigrant calls. Contact your Senators and Representatives via the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association website and urge them to show courageous leadership by enacting comprehensive immigration reform this year.

  5. Host a conversation. Invite your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, classmates and acquaintances to come together to work towards true immigration reform.  For more information, contact Martin at martin @ hatefreezone.org

Thank you joining Hate Free Zone in the push for true comprehensive immigration reform.  Alone we can make a difference, but together we are unstoppable!
